Planning is overrated

5 September 2010

To explain the title shortly. Non of the weekend seems planned. Of course I was aware of the fact that Soesterberg had a “festival” coming and that it wouldnt be much of an event. Also knew that a friend was playing there.
So after dinner my brother and me walked to the eventterrain watched the local freaks do their thing and had some fun with friends. Then I got invited to join them to Occultfest the next day. So I went there also and saw many bands. No photographing, feels kinda weird though. But I had my pink analogue cam with me for a couple of fun shots. :D
Sunday, my mom her birthday, I did not really do much special. Editted some photo’s that I had still on stock and had a quiet day. Well… All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy, right. (or as some may not know this expression… in Dutch: De boog kan niet altijd gespannen staan)

Here a couple photo’s of the weekend wont make a gallery of these as I didnt put too much effort in them:

Cozy, heh:

1 September 2010

short update. In summer did some festivals. Not as much as I could have done as I am currently focussing on building a sister site for Tempelores. quite some coding for an un-IT-Educated person, but I am blessed with the gift to pick it up quite fast so it all seem to go well. I just have to invent wheels as I want sth that doesnt exist. Of course. But I like a challenge.

Im doing a bunch of photoprojects I wont post on here… and I work on the exhibition. (hah did I keep that secret long enough?! :p)
Will be for buyers only! Im forced to my photography as I can’t find the desired office job. Well some people would die to be able to do it. I think I just go with the flow… for now… im going to update my calendar a bit cause I do have a few gigs scheduled.

Tuska was great!

14 July 2010

Let’s start with the start. I saw ont he first day a band in Espan Lava, they played crap so I decided I wont review them as it was a free show, no accreditation and I know they can do better. Why bother to bash if you dont have to? :) Went to Loose in the eve and met with some friends. Saw Danny Lips,w hich I hadnt seen for a while (photo’s will follow!) Had a great evening, quite interesting.

Next day I worked a bit for Tempelores, met with my assistent around 3 to give him some instructions for the interview we would do with Beyond the Dream. Inti went well, I turned out to be the first one interviewing them live. (as in face to face) There were a little nerves due to that but I think it went quite well and after a few questions the tense was off. Later we saw them perform, turned out to be that Taneli would play tonight as last band. He was in Sentenced, the band where it all started with, the first time I saw that band, long time ago. So we waited and they started playing at 01.30. It was crap, they were so drunk! I had to smile because Taneli sorta recognized me, giving me that sign. And when he was throwing his mic stand into the audience he made sure that he didnt hit me. How nice heh!
But I was pissed that I waited that long for a crap gig, so we left after 75% of their set. Next day would be Tuska starting.

Tuska turned out to be three days of greatness. Hard work, running around in the burning sun, netwerking and socializing with people at the seconds that we re not photographing or seeing a band to review, hardly having time to eat and drink. Luckily me and elvira form such a good team that we can work it out so that we can also think a bit about ourselves.
It’s important to eat and drink enough in the heat when working so much. Also we were sooo happy because we got to know that the organisation of the festival really really has good faith in us and they support us a lot. Sounds vague, but internet is not the place to be cristalclear about this anyway. We re happy with their support and this is why we love to give this festival our all and everything and work so hard that we have the absolute maximum out of it.
Elvira’s boyfriend was also at the festival (in the crowd) and he didnt got to see much of Elvira so kudos for him being able to deal with that and support us!
Acts that I loved most at the festival are Pain (surprised me with being even better than thought!), Ihsahn!!!!!, Satyricon, Bloodbath (also most dissapointing though, read the review at Tempelores why) FM2000, WASP, Turmion Kätilöt (though I prefer clubgigs more) and Nile.
From all the afterparty shows I like Beyond The Dream and The Enemy Pilot most.
I sneaked out on the last day for an unofficial afterparty in On The Rocks. Rust was playing and they were better than all bands I ve seen in the afterparty. Run into some friends there too, it was great to see them! In the end I went to Dantes, hoped to meet some friends there too, but couldnt really find any people that I was looking for so I chilled it with a drink, realizing that Tuska was already over :(

Monday we went to the haunted woods, where I went urban exploring in October before. Was a great day in wonderful nature of Finland. In the evening we took it calm and went to bed a bit in time. Guess everyone of us had things on their mind and could use a little more energy after the monsterweekend we had at Tuska.

Tuesday I met up with a friend before I left to the airport.
I already missed Finland and everytime I leave it hurts a little more to leave all my friends, my heart and great, positive times behind. But I always know that I will return for a next time, a new event, meet new people etc.

Currently, im back home having all the tuska stuff online. Now doing photoeditting on the things we did around and start planning Amphi, cause amphi festival is coming closer and me and my dear zombiesister Elvira are gonna shine there too. As tradition! we try to go for full coverage, as they keep on schedule as tights as Tuska does, we’ll make it, but unfortunately that is never the case there.
ahh well… we’ll get close! Amphi is a great festival too!

What’s going on???

18 May 2010

Have not blogged a lot lately, I know.
To summarize a bit… My brother returned from Africa, got problems with a ash volcano and got delayed, had to be in a bus for many, many hours.
Have kept my concerts on low recently, but in between the jobsearch I keep myself busy with doing artwork. And Im proud that I got asked to do artwork for two international acts. A great thing to do. Also, I did some portraits lately, an interesting step out. And.. had some fun at Lexus experience day. They invited me to testdrive the 450 full hybrid. Very pleasant car I must say. Not that I can afford it yet, but it would be unpolite to turn down the invitation ;).

Summer is coming, confirmations for festivals are coming in. Mostly I am excited about Tuska, which pretty much instantly gave us accreditation. I so love that! This festival is very friendly, a lot of people I know are playing there so things will be like being in the family. I’ll get to see and shoot WASP again. Very awesome. I really love to shoot them, Blackie is a person that speaks with his heart and I never discovered anything in it that isnt pure good.
Ihsahn will be there and I am looking forward shooting him too. After Emperor, starting the solo project I got very interested in what kind of personality he is and how I could photograph him best. He mystifies me.
Furthermore I’ll shoot Sotajumala, which is interesting cause many of my friends know them and told me to go see them live. And Turmion Kätilöt also, which is always a pleasure.
I had fun finding out which bands play in the afterparty shows before they were announced and it turned out that I was quite right with many of them. I look most forward to see: Beyond the Dream, Soulgrind, Throes of Dawn and Pressure Points. Made me smile that the people in Finland have such a good trust in us by confirming us so quickly. That was seriously good to hear that our hard work gets appreciated. I’ll go with Elvira, who celebrates her birthday on the 5th. We have been working at this festival together last year also and we are a good team :)

Amphi festival is pretty much arranged as well for the two of us. So we can look forward to a good summer.
After these festivals are done, I will get out of the country a bit as well. Seeing some great places, but well I can’t say too much about these plans yet as they are not solid yet.
At least I have plenty of exciting things to look forward to and now let’s hope that the job will be found soon as well, because I hate being home at daytime. I rather get some work done.

Graduated Fool

25 March 2010

Hah couldn’t resist to add this songtitle of Anouk to my blogtitle. Because I got to know that I graduated. How nice! After all the work, I now am done. So, this is the moment of truth, what’s next?
Currently I am looking for a job. I decided that it is time for me to start working and have a little change in my life. Of course I will hold on to my Tempelores work also, but this could easily be done in the private hours, that work was never ever done in officehours anyway. Im looking forward to get out and start the rest of my life.

Furthermore you might just have seen the crazy picture in my last post. Don’t worry, that was the very first and very last time you see me walking around with Hello Kitty! We had our crazy moments during Trashfest and we needed to cheer up a lot, so we ran into this in a store and we decided that we could go for that crazyness.
Too bad I did not take photo’s of the wonderful, more decent dresses I was wearing on the other day, because they were so gorgeous.

And flashing back on before Trashfest, it was Fear of Domination and Deathstars all the time. Being on the road and do what I love to do: Taking photo’s. So thanks to Fear of Domination for inviting me and having me around! It was a blast! :)

Me and Nina spicing up our Trashfest experience

Hole… Tour… Bro…

22 February 2010

Loads going on lately. My bro left for his trip to Gambia and is currently in Mauretania.
I went to the Hole concert to shoot Courtney Love, which was sth I wanted to do for a long time already. Have my satisfaction out of that! and I hope my dearest fans love the pics of course. My cam is getting old though, I can feel it.. seeing it sometimes act like it will give up on me. I’m now working even harder, as if that was actually possible. But well. I can invest in a new one soon. I have my mind set on a 5D but I have other options open too.
Next week my tour starts so that is the perfect opportunity to gets the socializing, shooting, selling done. I have some great opportunities coming up so Im looking forward to it with binoculars.
Well.. leaving soon, still have to pack my suitcase. Get the dresses sorted. etc.
for now Im mostly looking forward to: Cult of Luna… Fear of Domination and Trashfest. And seeing all my dear friends again of course!

2010 starts…

28 January 2010

With industrial. I saw Punish Yourself, Deadcell and Parade Ground in W2. What a nice evening. after Iw as done with the photo’s I ve been dancing a bit, kinda needed that since it has been a while since the last industrial gig. They are a bit like Turmion Kätilöt. in show element. Like that!
Yesterday was Dayna Kurtz. Totally something else. Lovely diversity! I had fun talking with some people in the audience, there was an older audience than I am used to, the band self was ok. I wouldn’t play it too often though. But not bad.
Recently there is so much going on at Tempelores, it surprises me everytime that being entrepeneur, well ok… sort of, not officially, but yeah Im like a business bitch now, is such a great thing. All the new things that cross your path, new opportunities etc. are just amazing. It remains flexibility and it is interesting to see how me and the crew are such a good team and that I can really built on them. When I have ideas they always back up and bring their imput and they are all so enthusiastic. Yes, we’re gonna be big. 2010 is our year.
We are ready for it!

Happy New Year!!

4 January 2010

All the best… to you!! :D

What’s new? Not too much. I worked a lot for Christmas and right now Im a bit hold back on that. Feel like calming it down now I can. But now the concerts are coming I’ll get all excited again! :D AND… I bought a guitar! an accoustic one! so Im practising a lot now. but its hard if you do it all from the internet :p
But eventually I end up like rockstar… just as my favorite drink.
I need to type out two interviews still so that will be my next task.

Happy new year! And I hope to meet all my fans, friends and familyrockstars on the road!! Love you all! You made my 2009 bearable while I was having hard times!
Reminds me to sth that I have never told… but when I had to defend my thesis I got comments for the fact that I thanked the bands that inspired me and give me the power to work on in hard time.
Apperantly it is not appropriated to do that. You thank your tutors (I did as well!) your family and friends(I did as well of course) but the things that really give people the strenght to go on in hard times, that what people find their powers in: music and the ones who created are not supposed to be thanked. Well… I was already known as a rebel that met borders in all time, the black sheep, so I couldnt care less for the comments on it.

Iceeeeeey cold!

19 December 2009

Yes yes, it’s freezing! a lot! it has been minus 18 yesterday night! Im surprised about that to happen in The Netherlands, but I can’t say I dislike it. :D
I have been to Mortiis gig last Thursday, which was awesome. OK some technical difficulties… so be it. The band seemed really relaxed on stage and they seem to feel comfortable. Much more then the last time I have seen them on Trashfest festival.
But why I like this band a lot came clear once again. It’s Mortiis and no bullshit around it. They play music for the music or at least they make that impression at me. Deadcell was support. Deadcell supports pretty everything industrial that hits the Dutch stages lately. :p Can’t say that is a problem, they are pretty good.
Hope that Mortiis comes back to NL in 2010 as they said on their website (Tivoli de Helling, perhaps? Maybe even closer: De Kelder, Amersfoort). Had a good time, but it took quite long to get there. Last week my car battery had died and therefore I have to rely on public transportation. Shitfuck! Snow makes sure it is a horror to travel by train. I had the bus at 16.25 and I arrived in Rotterdam around 19.00. Usually it takes 1 hour and 45 minutes including the changeover from bus to train. I hoped to get home by train as they said problems would be solved later.. well… NOT at all!!!
Eventually I came home at 3am. Ridiculous if you think I left the venue at 23.35. Now we are facing the last days of the year and I feel a bit sad for not going to Helsinki this year, but when I look at my bankaccount I know it is the right thing to do. I can’t keep on spending all the time! And Helsinki including friends will be there in February also! :D

I still sneaky search for excuses to visit Sweden somewhen. I haven’t been in GbG for way too long and I actually liked that city. Im sure sth will come somewhen.

Positivity

5 December 2009

A lot of good things go on right now!!
I passed my test for school… with a 8.5 for the assignement, a 7 for the presentation (based on the powerpoint as I didnt gave it due to absense of the teacher which is crap because I could have gotten a way higher mark for it otherwise) and the test… 6.7. so that one is down! now still the one that I can’t reach the teacher of and one of which the mark is still missing, but Im surely going to get that one too! Maybe I can convince my uni that I actually graduated now.

Tempelores Magazine is getting huge! Last two months we ve got booming grows in our visitor rates and I guess it is also because I work more than full time on it now, but its amazing.
Im so proud of our crew who make this happen with me. They are so awesome! We still have space for new people now we have sooo much that gets offered to us that we hardly can’t take it all. Very nice!
this last months I ve seen some great acts… like W.A.S.P (Blackie you re awesome!), Shinedown (GREAT show!) and Juliette Lewis who has a very special place in my heart for being an incredible cool an generous person! So funny to see that she reminds me and well… won’t say too much about it in public, but trust me when I say that she is just great! And so is her new band!
Saw insomnium last week, which was nice, but not as awesome as I hoped for. I ve seen it cooler from them. But maybe that was also because it was in baroeg, tuesday I go another time! this will be in De Kelder which is not much better than baroeg, but at least closer.
Have some things on the calender, but loads of stuff got messed up when I went to the doctor last wednesday and she decided to do some cutting in me about one hour later. and some more of that will follow in two weeks.

Well well.. I can’t say anything else now than:”Life is great!”

Last weekend

17 November 2009

I was jury in a bandcontest called The Next Stage again. this time the overall finals. It was held during Langweiligkeit festival in The Hague and was two days lasting.
Both days were great, but I didnt count on a outdoor festival. Ok there were tents, but I was freezing all the time. But, instead of complaining about that, one band was fighting on the stage because they were suppose to leave after 30 minutes. but they didnt play 30 minutes. This because they complained a lot during the soundcheck and were whining about everything. So they took a longer soundcheck. That goes of their own playtime… duh… and uhm, it was not like they were the only band which had troubles.
Gosh I hate such crybabies. well the playing was not great either. backing vocals sucked big time and timing… my god…
And to my opinion… violence is never a solution, and not a good way to express your frustrations either.

But well other bands made it up! Saw nice names to remember. A girly duo, Promises, surprised me cause I didnt really thought I would like it. But yeah females punkchicks in vains of Vice Squad and Buzzcocks, hell yeah! Also kudos for the band The Q. I remember them from Utrecht Finals were I was also jury and they won with 1 point difference. Kinda lucky they won, because most people had them on place 3 or sth… but there was loads of differences in the nr’s 1 by then. but yeah, they played nice could be more varied though. I give them kudos for showing up the second day also. Shows me that they re no egocentric artists, but people who really care for music and bother to check out others also!
on the second day I liked the first band a lot. Agents in Panama is their name and they are completely instrumental. A part of the love came from the cello, which could have been used even more to mho. Half minute man was also very surprising. Didnt like them from the very first moment, but they convinced me during the set.

Anyway… on sunday I went to see Shinedown, who played awesome! and SOil too. counterwhatevertherestofthenamewas seemed a bit stoned, so they could have stayed at home and gave their 30 minutes to soil who got the people going.

Tomorrow: Juliette Lewis and Thurstday: Melomanics @ Absolut Vodka rock edition presentation. :)

My last day in TRE

25 October 2009

What a week! well technically 10 days. So even more fun!!! Loads of friends and bands. Loads of party, loads of photo’s.
I cant just tell everything that happened because there are some things that should not be on the internet anyway… :D

so uhm first night… Throw Away Heroes, Edward and another band that totally fucked up, who’s name I already forgot. Edward was nice… but they have a bit of a cocky attitude on the stage. dunno if that suits their personality, but it certainly hold me from liking them more.
Next day was Metalorgy. I woke up really early and I felt it was a good day for baking a pie. I made it a Metalorgy pie and I had to guard it all the time because people wanted to eat it already (pics will come!) I enjoyed watching the bands and loved the chaos all around. Met some people at the upper part of Nosturi who I talked with. And I heard that everyone loved the pie so that made my day also. :D

next day I slept quite a lot, but went out for a walk to Munkkisaari in the afternoon. One of my fave places in Helsinki town. In The evening Tsukicon, a festival with Japanese bands. A really interesting experience!
Monday I went shopping a bit, but didnt buy anything. In the evening I went to OnThe Rocks and saw two bands…

Tuesday me and Mikko met up and went urban exploring… I had found a map to this place and we had an awesome day in this wonderful location. Definitely will go there again!!
On The Rocks again in the evening… I got kinda addicted to the Rockstar energy drink. Yumyum!

Wednesday was the day I went to Tampere… My old hometown! Me liked a lot! In the evening I went shooting WASP which was great! well ok… shitty lights but WASP was great… Ok didnt expected different. ;)
Went to Inferno for afterparty till late!

Thursday I woke up late, but went shopping a bit in the afternoon. Got my presscard for Lost in Music and watched some bands in Klubi.

Friday the festival started at 3 with some singer/songwriters and that was fun. Went to Ravintola Artturi as soon as they ended and ran into Poisonblack people. Surprise! was fun, so were the bands playing there. After that some crisscross running from venue to venue to end up in the horrible bar of Ilves to see deep insight. they played good! after that I didnt feel like walking to Klubi anymore and went to bed, to get ready for the last day of the festival…

again singersongwriters to start with… both very awesome! instantly fell in love with them. Then Artturi again and then: Klubi/pakkahuone, Dogs home, Yo-talo, Klubi.
In Yo-Talo there was this guy giving us beer, while he got told that I didnt drink beer. Soooo… did a sort of trick with an empty glass… filling it half and then show the half empty glass to the dude… and I hoped to be able to put the rest away in a bit but on the other side there was this guy which saw me doing this… totally staring like: WTF?!?! so he kinda spoiled the trick… Hey I just didnt want to be rude by refusing the drink… anyway… The toilet as excuse and then we sneaked out. And our afterparty went on for a while… one hour longer than we had thought… because the time was granted with an extra hour due to the summertime. ;)

today… I haven’t left the building yet… spend some time doing photo’s and typing… Now I have to pack my suitcase and Maybe I do a quick drink somewhere, but its not likely.

DAMN I will miss my beloved Tampere… Such a great time! Met such nice people! and good to see old friends back…
but ok that also counts for Hesa of course.
Anyway… I wish I could stay :(

Hurray!

9 October 2009

Yes, I am happy this time. I got my mark from the extra assignment I did and dunno how high it was exactly, but high enough to make me passed this subject and then on mutation date of 08-10-2009 I got it on my list! The teacher still says it was in the system one week earlier already… But I dont complain anymore because “Nothing is wrong with the system” It’s just me anyway. Hallelujah!
Now only a few more to go before I can actually go and collect my diploma!

And now I have some other news. I can welcome a 70-200mm 2.8L IS usm to my family!!!
I am so happy with it! Now I need to train my thin wrists to handle it hahaha but it will work out eventually!

I took it out for some shooting already and made some autumn photo’s. But then again… I also used other objectives for that. But well… let’s just see some photo’s here:

Weekend.

28 September 2009

A few short words over the weekend. Went to see Lastdayhere on Sat. They played with Delain and another band. I managed to not see a second of Delain which makes me happy cause I don’t like their music so much. Also went the afterparty in Stairways, which was fun. Felt a bit like I should have brought my sunglasses cause there were people I really dont know that took photo’s of me. And this did not stop when I left the party at 3.30 ish. Im not used to experience this in The Netherlands.

In the bus home, (dont drink and drive! ;) ) we got delayed due some marroccan guys of maybe age 16 if they werent younger that found it highly needed to play extremely loud (and very bad quality) music. Bus driver warned them not to drive further if they didnt stop with it,but apperantly they didnt care. Im so lucky that those boys seemed to be scared of me all the time. Maybe my leather jacket made impression as well, but when I turned around after standing there for 2 minutes at a busstop telling them to fucking shut the music down, cause I want to go home they bounded in within a couple of seconds and were extremely quiet on the rest of the ride. I had to jump of earlier than them so I hope they behaved after I left as well.

Last minute decision: The Mary Major

22 September 2009

Hehe yesterday I did not blog about my quasi spontaneous action. I went to Germany, Menden to be exactly to see The Mary Major. I knew on forehand that it was there, but with all the stuff going on at the uni and how “great” the Open Flair festival was I did not really feel like driving there. But it was a long time ago that I saw that band, about 1,5 years to be exact. Also, I kind of expected that I might have been tired after the Fink gigs and the Jaya the Cat gig the days before. BUT that was not the case at all. So I woke up that day… hang a bit at my computer, still decideless and I login to MySpace. There I chatted up with my Stefanie who is usually also at The Mary Major gigs. She kinda talked me over the edge and so come I grabbed some food and jumped in the car.
Menden is an interesting place. Drove by the venue when I found it and after that I drove around a bit in the area. Then I decided I needed some benzine so I didnt have to tank in the night, which is always questionable if you find a gasstation thats open at night. Laughed my ass off when some guys came by and honked at me calling me: “Schatze”. (or sth that is spelled similar ;) ) I waved and gave a handkiss. Reminded me a bit to all those nights in Rotterdam when I went to Exit. Cause I always went there quite dressed up. Extraordinary. But well, after that I went looking for some place where I could have dinner and I saw a sign for McDo, but ended up at Burger King. Could have gone to the steakhouse (read: kiosk) as well, but it looked nasty and reminded me to the nasty foodstands in Helsinki.

Went back to the venue, parked my car and walked over there. AC-DC car shows up and I already found Stefanie before we entered. They went drinking on the parking place cause they planned to sleep in the car later on. I didnt drink because I wanted to drive home afterwards. Frist two other bands. Didnt like them. First one was a typical bandcontest-thousands-like-this band. I already forgot their name. It was not extremely bad, but nothing spectacular either. Second band Eigensinn was more relevant. It just aint my type of music, or maybe I should say: Vocals. Instrumental I kind of liked it and I could imagine a sort of guy like Anzi Destruction singing there. Im just not a big fan of female vocals like that. Like that more in industrial or punk.
Last band was The Mary Major. Quite a long set was played and I spend most of my time watching it. I did do some photo’s as well, but as the lights were dramaticly bad and boring I did not really bother to put effort in it. chatted a bit afterwards and then I went home. As soon as I was back on the highway I pumped up the volume a bit. So thanks to the great music of Born from Pain. Soilwork, Kilt. and Turmion Kätilöt I had a great trip home. Quiet roads means basically that you only have to keep your steeringwheel straight. And I had energy enough because of all the gigs of the days before changed my day-night rhytm.

After all its good that I ve been there. A gig in Cologne is on the menu as well, but somehow I have bad vibes over that one. Dont know why. Anyway, a pleasant trip away from the madness here.

BTW. here a photo I did in Rotterdam after I visited the apartment I blogged about. It’s made @ maaskade right in the middle between Erasmusbridge and Willemsbridge. The three buildings and the Ernst & Young building looked so well in the scene that I had to shoot it.

Oh and I have just uploaded the galleries from Eigensinn and The Mary Major so check them out if you want.

I feel stronger.

20 September 2009

I handed in my extra assignment I had to do. I really spend a lot of time on it so it just have to be good. Tsah the teacher told me that he would check on plagiarism. Tsah… what an insult. I write so much, I did so much journalistic stuff… plagiarism would be so dishonourful. I would never ever lower myself to that. but well good luck with the checking on it. I wrote it all myself.
I hope he appreciates my style. Used some chaptertitles with old tv-serie titles. “Toen was geluk nog heel gewoon” (Happiness was still normal by then) for example. I like that sort of things in it. I am aware that not always everyone appreciates this… hahaha I remember I had to give a presentation for managementtraining once. Subject: What could be done better on the school.
I had some story in which I talked about the KKK first. How people thought it was cool to be in that group… playing secret agent and passing on information and them joining KKK more for that than the actual ideology. Cause whatever you say about KKK, communication was there! I said that the uni should take example of this and find a way to float information so extremely well as KKK.

I made that statement with a second idea… I want to let people think about discrimination. As there still is discrimination going on also at the uni. Luckily not too much on KKK ways… but well teachers will know exaclty what I am talking about. They just dont have the guts to admit it. Or say it out loud.
And that bothered me as well.
Anyway… the teacher felt kind of intimidated by my speech. He said that my words were too extreme etc. blahblahblah. FLASHBACK. Already when I was in highschool, blogging elsewhere on a free domain, people often found my words controversial. I guess that is so me.

Also went to the subject that I have to follow because it was NOT on my curricilum. I got an email that said that it was my own fault and I could have known it cause they sended an email about this like 4 years back! NO WAY! cause I never deleted any emails from my uni email. and it is NOT there! but yeah… sth that is not there is no prove. But at least I know they are lying to me. Cause they said it was weird..and it was my fault. BUT I found another person which had the same! So it makes me feel stronger to know that I am NOT the one who was making a mistake. Just another prove to me that they play a dirty game on that school. And whether you uni people read this and find it controversial. Feel free to meet me up in person and get the discussion going!
Anyway to get back to the subject… we had to go to some empty appartment. I did photo’s there cause that is what I do best :p The idea is that we have to come up with an idea what to make from the appartment. Will it be an office… studenthouse or sth else.. I saw it and instantly fell in love. That apartment is exactly what I love in houses. Only thing I hated were the stairs. It was all old, dirty and rotten, but you can surely make sth beautiful of it. If I have the time to progress the photo’s I’ll post some!
Just gorgeous! Only thing I would need to have my dreamhouse complete is other stairs and a round window on the top level. Cause I love round windows! You know those big ones where you can spend hours in watching the view.
AND it is located in Rotterdam… AND you can park your car there… AND a great view on the river… between Erasmus bridge and Willembridge.
Let’s get rich soon!

I know where schoolshootings start!

Well yeah, that idea came up to me yesterday. My university is SHIT! Still not all marks are found and as it looks now… because of a software mistake I didnt do one subject, because it was not on my curriculum while it should have been there.

Anyway… all the missing marks and shit around this fucking failure university make me a bit depressed. Feeling like the last 5 years were for nothing… worthless. I actually got all my marks, but now I have to do some subjects again. I just want the diploma that I deserved. Ok I might not be the best student which fluently got all the marks, I know. But I was the student that always attended lessons, always tried again and again, but now my energy is totally gone.
I ve been checking some homestudies to see if there is any interesting study to from home, but all of them come with internships. and I never want to do that again. That just ain’t my thing, to be underpaid doing a job totally on my own and the boss claiming he can’t pay you more for the work because you cost them time as they have to look after you. Which they don’t do, or maybe once or twice to find out I can work indepently and then never check on me again.

We’ll see what happens next then.

For now, I focus on the extra assignment I have to do because of a disagreement about the right mark. *sight*

Newsflash ;)

3 September 2009

Things are quiet here. have not done much gigs lately but it wil start again soon. I will upload my calender soon!
Parents are back from holidays and on Friday I got a message that because the administration of my uni is a mess they decide to give me advance of doubt. JEEJ. so I had two days to study for sth you normally do in 10 weeks. Well, we’ll see what comes from it.
Other than that I ve done some analogue photo’s and I updated my flickr account. I will probably put some random shots on there that won’t fit in my gallery, as well as a couple of my fave concert photo’s for the sake of having sth on there that represents me.

Im currently trying to find a good photoservice in my neighbourhood. First film I had developed was at HEMA. just an ordinary 36mm that came out of my plastic fantastic Diana f+. Well… my negatives came back broken, fixed with stickers on it. So for the next badge of full films I brought them to Ben Romp in Utrecht. 6 days later I came to pick up the photo’s!!! guess what: my 120 film was not developed squarish as it should have been but on 10X15. WTF?! Also my instamatic film did not even return yet. I could come back for that on friday which is 10 days after I brought it there. Then I had 2 color 36mm which came out badly. The cd I wanted them on has a lot of grey images, while the actual photo is good. WTF?! and I had one black and white 36mm of which I only got the negatives. No prints. WTF? then they blame me that I didnt say I wanted them printed… and they thought I would do it in my own doka. WTF?!
1. I want everything printed, I ve said that a couple of times!
2. What is the point in bringing the film there if I want to develop them myself in my own doka?! Then I could do everything myself huh?!

so Friday I can pick up the rest. Hopefully. I guess I have to get a darkroom somehow, since it seems impossible to give anything out of hands these days. Unless one of you readers can tell me a store that develops photo’s themselve, not send them to a central point to get developed in the area Utrecht, Amersfoort, Soest or Zeist. Im not happy to get even more photo’s ruined by some fucking assholes again.

And here I have one random shot I took in Rotterdam last week. I hope you like the doom over Rotterdam!:

Doom over Rotterdam

Doom over Rotterdam

The Foreshadowing, open flair, eschwege, blah en blah!

15 August 2009

Crossed one of my wishtosee list again. The Foreshadowing. My list is so empty now. Like.. 2 bands I really want to see before I die :p and that must be *ruffels drums* The Cyan Velvet Project and Ruoska.
Well… let’s say it is good that good bands pop up every once and a while so I never get a chance to finish the list completely ;)
But back to the topic, The Foreshadowing did a great gig. Too bad there were not so many doom people there. I think most people found it too depressive. Well, I m impressed. Because tensions are high if you really adore an album and then have to see it live. it’s so easy to fuck up then. But they did it good :D So didnt have to worry. Class musicians :) Reminded me to The Eternal which I saw earlier this year and kind of had the same feeling with. But they rocked it as well.
Next day i went all the way to Germany for Open flair. First day was kind of chill we got passes and wristbands and went to the redbull bus. That was the stage for this evening. yeah bands had to rock on a bus. Kinda sucked. you think it is cool, but within a bit you see it just sucks. The redbull handout in the backstage was cool. I rarely drink it, way too much sugartaste for me (even tghe sugarfree ones).
Didnt like any of the bands. But had fun with dancing to Emil Bulls which were probably the band that comes closest to what i like. And they had merch on from bands I liked. so yeah it was ok. Next day was not so great. Kinda boring. I was way overheated. sort of heatstroke got me. Next day I felt really bad because of it and so I left pretty much an hour after I came. I slept a lot and last day I did not do much either. Went downtown at dinner time and walked on the festival area to see if I could shop something, but I didnt buy a thing. Peter Fox gave me a headache so I left again.
Eschwege is not really a funky place by the way. Why does such a small place have so many bowlinghalls? and knitting stores? I guess a lot of old people live there.
And on the last day I found out that my 70-300mm objexctive is broken. the autofocus is completely blocked and manual focus doesnt work either. Only if I pressure it a lot I can break through the block. So hmm I need to buy a new one. uhm… Sponsors?????? anyone??? :)

Photomadness

31 July 2009

I recently got working more with analogue camera’s. Got an instamatic, Polaroid, Agfa Clack and Olympus OM1 going. Im soon getting a Pentax probably, but Im not sure if it is working. Nice to try out!
I have not really developed the films yet, but I will do that soon. Im not sure if I am going to upload them, because most of them will be used in my surrealism projects.

I ve recently bought an Cullmann lamp… in the second hand store. It’s really oldschool. If you read the back you will see that you can’t put it on any longer than 5 minutes, because then it will overheat. I ve had it on for about 20 seconds to see if it worked and I wanted to close the metal doors of it to put it away again I noticed they were already to hot to touch. hehe well, interesting object for my collection at least.

Yesterday evening I went to Walls of Jericho in de kelder, Amersfoort. Was really interesting. but hmmm these guys did not shower that week!! as soon as they entered the stage there was this horrible scent of sweaty guys that don’t bother to shower every once and a while and deodorant is sth they hadnt heard of either I guess. after the gig I hung around int he venue for a while for a drink, but left before any of theguys showed theirselves in public afterwards. hehe, sorry… next time maybe. On the schedule is: The Foreshadowing. I look really forward to see them. It was definitely one of the best albums I reviewed and they were on my Want-to-see-live list for a long time. Of course they come with Lacuna Coil. I really don’t like their music, but I can’t say they have a wrong taste in music, because they always tour with bands I like so much that I can’t skip on it. So still… Kudos for Lacuna Coil :p

Amphi, Fortarock.. festival madness.

26 July 2009

The festival madness is totally open now. Loads of festivals going on and hell lot of traveling. I should write some more, but with all the facebook, twitter blah I m busy LOL
maybe in a couple of days I tell more about Cologne and our parking problems there.

Birthday party/Tuska

6 July 2009

I am back from Finland for about a week now, but I was busy with the photo’s and reviews etc…
work goes first ;)
Anyway… My Birthday was great, me and Elvira went to Virgin Oil early because we were suppose to interview For The Imperium. In front of the door I saw Tommi and Tommi from Wankers of the Zoo Crew. So we had a little chitchat. after that we did the interview and went eating.
I wanted to be in Virgin Oil a bit after the opening, because it is not nice if any guests come early and miss out on me. First came Mikko and later Antto surprised me with showing up. Two guys called to tell me they could not come but we met later :D
Gigs were nice, I had a nice evening!! Thanks all!!! And because Tommi told the audience about my birthday when I was photographing their set I got people walking after me to the toilet to wish me a happy birthday. :p

The day after we went shopping and in the evening we went to Dantes.. Good as always, though it was pretty empty. Ok for us, we just wanted a drink or two and sleep early since the day after the Tuska festival would start.
Tuska was nice! Friday was a lot of stressing because I had to run all town for interviews and afterparty’s and I survived. Very cool to see that I got recognized by All That Remains. “Hey, I saw you in Amsterdam” :p
yes, true! you rocked there as well. I loved their set and I am happy that I got some great photo of their bassist smiling. Muhaha I kept that one private… just for the sake of having sth unique :D.
After I photographed Neurosis I ran to the hostel and drop some stuff I wouldnt need anymore. Then back to Virgin Oil to be there on time.. 19.30 for the interview with Black Light Discipline. The guys were still at the beach though. I somehow expected this to happen already… well ok… Let’s say I know Finns and I calculated the time a bit wider than I would have done elsewhere. I was done in time, so I walked all the way to Nosturi and just had time to grab a banana before meeting up with Kilt. who did a great and intense show.
I had to rush afterwards and I really hoped that I could see a bit of Fear of Domination but unfortunately that didnt work out. I was in time for Black Light Discipline and enjoyed them though.
After that Turmion Kätilöt played and Elvira and me danced a lot.
27th was a busy day on the festival for me… so i did not want to shoot more bands at the afterparty… which made me go and end up in Dantes, while elvira was at Tavastia for the Textures. Mikko and me were in dantes drinking and watching some bands, who’s name I cant really remember, but were quite ok. When mikko left, I stayed to talk with some other guys and so come I had a nice evening and met some nice people!
28th was the last day :( I had only two bands to photograph int hefestival so I chilled a bit ont he festival area and spoke with some people. Later Elf joined me and we made some fun shots. Afterparty of today drove me to Virgin Oil again with Black Sun Aeon who was the god damn highlight of the whole festival. Well at least they surprised me most! what a killer line up! Tuomas was one of my fave drummers already, but let’s say he jumped up in charts! damn! fucking great! After that we left quite soon, but not before we had some Fisu! :D Let’s go fishing!
I slept for maybe two hours and then I went to the airport to fly home.

how long will it take before Im back in Helsinki? not too long, I m sure!

Here some of the photo’s of my B-day (scanned polaroids):

Old school cams

10 June 2009

Various events have passed, but I decided to focus on the thesis first, before uploading stuff to my website. I have some photo’s from parkingpop and The Next Stage in queue just as some portraits from Karin.
I thought I was done, but some person decides last minute to write me with comments.. which make no sense at all to my opinion. But well I should go and listen (and probably laugh and ignore afterwards) to him.
Anyway… the company was very enthusiastic, and that is what counts more. :)
Yesterday we got a piggy. One to paint yourself and then collect some coins in its tummy ;)
Haha… it is nice, so in the weekend I am going to make some time for decorating it.

also… I have now some old school analogues to work with. An old Olympus SLR. An Instamatic 200 (I need a 110 film and lightcubes for the flash for it though…) and an Agfa Clack + flash. I found a site for the batteries and I can get films (120mm) for it as well, but if someone knows where to get lightbulbs for the flash… help me out! :)

I also get a polaroid cam soon, so I wait a bit to see what I need for that one to make it work and then I am going to order stuff and let those cams work for me.

Lomography!

27 May 2009

A few moments of quietness here on the blog, mostly because I am extremely busy with my thesis. I still love the company I work for… Quite rare as I usually get bored as soon as Im working somewhere where I do a less function than that I am able to do. Like in all my summerjobs and my first internship.
But there is a good vibe in this company!
Im going strong with my thesis. Soon I’ll be finished!

Last Thursday I went to Parkingpop with Elvira. My fellow Zombie Sister. Besides us being very excited about the TUSKA festival where we are going to.. and my birthdayparty (and Elf her pre-birthday party)
we had fun watching the local bands. Good to see Scotch once again! Very nice! and we had fun telling everyone how ugly and stupid the Spike (formerly known as the waytooyounggroupiesaddicted Spike from Di-Rect) is.
He got welcomed with a lot of booo ing cause the audience really wanted to see Scotch.

I ordered my Diana F+ deluxe set on Sunday and it is already delivered. So soon I will be lomographing! Analogue won’t die yet… luckily :)

Helsinki/Tallinn

6 May 2009

It was very pleasant! but I guess you didnt expect anything else…
Had only very little sleep as I had to leave around 6 to be in time int he harbour to tallinn on the 30th but I was cheerful. Met up with Mikko and the others at the terminal. The trip was fun… weird dressed ladies were dancing on the boat. to-old-for-the-outfit type of people. Then in about three hours we arrived in Tallinn and went of the boat. First we went to check out the alcohol prices so we could get the cheapest booze later on.
we strolled a bit around in the old town. it s weird… there is so much of a contrast in that city. And who ever called Amsterdam the capital of sex have never been to Tallinn!!!
We had lunch in a restaurant and strolled around some more.
Funky view from the top of the city seeing old and new mixed up. We went to a bar and pretty soon after that we went back to the boat and back to Helsinki where Nina was waiting in the terminal to help me carrying the booze I bought for her b-day party.
In the evening we went to Vanha to see Traffic Island.

Next day we woke up late, got our booze together and made our way to Suomenlinna. Mikko came later witht he cake that I arranged and we had some nice time.
Not too crowded though.

On sat I seriously lived for Turmion Kätilöt. We had some picknicking all day long, but it was a weird atmosphere. Anyway… TK was great! What a show! And I met some really nice guys where I partied with later on. I was back int he hostel around 5.30 on sun :D
so yeah
After that I woke up I packed my stuff and went to the airport. I had to catch the flight as I had to interview SIC in Leiden. they are touring with Hatesphere. Didnt stay too long, cause I was fucking tired.

so yeah… another nice weekend! ;)

vappu, tallinn, helsinki coming

29 April 2009

Today I am leaving to Helsinki. straight after work.  Sab is getting back to town!
on the 30th I’ll be going to Tallinn with some people. on Vappu we go to Suomenlinna to celebrate Nina’s birthday and do some gigging afterwards.

and Saturday: Turmion Katilot :D
so an interesting weekend is coming up.

Ah and on sunday I’ll go to Hatesphere and interview their support act.

Recordfair Utrecht

23 April 2009

Last weekend I have been to the recordfair in Utrecht. It was really great!!
One of the best editions for years. Loads of cheap stuff, varied music.
And there were quite some people there.
A big succes… in total I bought 48 pieces of music and I still have like 30% of the budget left. Way to go, right ;)

for those who wanna see what I ve bought:

See All…

Last weekend

16 April 2009

The weekend is gone already long, although it was a long weekend over easter, but I did a lot.
Wednesday I catched up with Before the Dawn, just quickly…. no photo’s… just fun.
Thursday I saw Dark Roses and some hiphop act.
Friday The Eternal + 2 which was nice! Totally meeted my expectations. Did an interview with them as well and I am glad to say how nice it was.

Someday I wanna write a book about those interview experiences… this being a good and fun one.
As I remember interviews where guys end up staring at my boobs… guys who chicken out. Guys getting so nervous that he could not stand anymore(it was his first one). Guys putting on sunglasses in dark backstage area’s (scared to look me in the eyes?!?!) Guys want me to join them in sauna. Interviews during volleyball and then the guerrilla interviews…
hmm yeeah could be interesting.
But some day, some day, some day… (guess the song+artist :p)

Sat was a chill day… for sleeping as I came home in the morning. but the evening ended with: 2unlimited! :D

Sunday some more The Eternal and rocking in The Cave. Good to see Arifa again… It has been a while :(

and monday. I just slept until dinnertime. I ate some.. checked tv and slept till it was time to get to work.

and now this week I hoped to go to The Next Stage, but it got rescheduled. and I won’t be there then.. but there is the recordfair coming up this weekend. Probably going there sunday and spend the last money I have… haha no not really as I worked my ass off lately with not having time to spend it at all… but I will go to Helsinki again soon! :D

Oh no… ONE DUTCH GUY GOT KILLED IN AFGHANISTAN

7 April 2009

And the NOS news puts it capitalized on their headlines….

but my question is… How many non-Dutch  have died there where I never heard anything about??

Glorious!

1 April 2009

Lately everything  seems to be going so great!
Im not worrying about school, Working at AOS is still great! Things with Tempelores are going fantastic! Im so proud!

Yesterday, FINALLY my big big built-in closet came. I am sooooooooo happy now. It is sooo beautiful and I have so much space now! Need to get myself some more hangers for it actually… but yeah, thats ok :D I can finally hang more clothes. And did I mention all the space I have now?!?

So, happy happy, joy joy!

Spring is coming, the sun is sweet!! I love it! :)

Trashfest bloggle

27 March 2009

Last week I was at Trashfest! It was great! as usual! Loads of fun and it was great seeing soooo many friends! big family reunion!
First I met with Mikko! it was way too long ago!
then Nina and Becky and we went to Semifinal.
Biggest winner of the evening: Sonic Roots. Whoohah what a gig! I am impressed! surely the best gig I ve seen from them ever!
There were some ego’s there as well telling they would headline the next morning. Guess what, you re not! :p
And the last band just kept on playing. The lights went on already and people left but they just did not want to quit. Too much copy paste from others though. And afterparty at Loose was nice!

Next day… also amazing! after shopping a bit with Nina we went to have some pizza and after that trashfest started already. Fun Fun! I had the dress on that Samantha made for me and it was gorgeous! Got so many compliments on the dress, so Samantha… stick those to you!
biggest surprise on the evening… Dope Stars Inc. for making such a great gig compared to last year!
also the ego’s of stoneman surprised me. But yet… the ego’s have to drop before I would spend any money on them. Also, I am pissed on them because they were rude in Semifinal and because they threw a can of coke after Nina when she wanted to leave their performance. They missed, but if they would have hit her I would have thrown it back… sorry, but that ain’t no style!
At the end was Private Line so I spend some time chilling upstairs. Afterparty was Loose and I did not feel like joining them there, also because some of my friends were in Dante’s so I walked to Dante’s and partied with them. Love you guys!
Here the dress: (thanks Nina for the photo)

Dress

It’s the first strapless dress I own that doesn’t squeeze my boobs but make them look good and still be comfortable :) Thanks Samantha!

Last day Nina and me went to forum for food when we got the call from Defueld. if we could come for doing an interview. ehhww… interview… no one mentioned sth about that before. So a guerilla interview! also cool, totally unprepared talking. at least it is spontaneous and it challenges me to be creative without thinking to much. According to Nina I must have done well since she said I asked everything she could have thought of and without thinking long. I start liking those guerilla interviews. As we done two of those at Metalorgy last year as well.
We walked into Dope Stars later and drinked some booze. Winners of the evening: Stereojunks! and Mortiis. and also a bit Iconcrash for having such a gorgeous gig with gorgeous lights! they did not have much audience though.

Afterparty was at gloria which was fun. but we went on afterwards. But that is all insider stuff as you might have guessed ;)

So… I loved the weekend! I loved seeing all those friends!! can’t even name you all, but you know who you are!
See you all again soon I hope!!

Love Love Love!

ps. read the review: http://tempelores.com/?p=597

When music guides me though life.

12 March 2009

Loads of new cd’s came in last weeks!
Great, great! For example I got the albums of Kilt., Lily Allen, Blut Aus Nord (love these three a lot!) and quite some I have not listened yet.
Also The Prodigy (send that one through to Nina), Michale Grave (Nina as well), Ironwood and more I cant remember all.
I love it! Makes me so happy to see all the music on my desk, waiting for me to be able to write sth about it… Friday I’ll have time for it!

But yeah, that made me happy and that was what i wanted to share!

Kallio Block Party

9 March 2009

This weekend I was working a lot.
Many different things though. Had an interview with Underwater Sleeping Society which was fun.
One of them lived in TRE. Just like me. and some of them live in Kallio… My future neighbourhood!!
Kallio is great! so yeeah loads of stories about that.
They were driving in a pinkish fragile tourvan. I bet my bro would shivered if he had seen it. The color was cool though.

Sunday I did a lot for our Pop offensive. We need more pop on Tempelores because we dont want to die in Metal only. So now Im listening Lily Allen and its nice!
what a relief.
And the work at AOS is still interesting. Bit tired of sitting at the same spot all day but actuqally it has a lot of pro’s. Now I can buy stiletto heels and wear them all day so I can start learning to really really walk on those. because I can start with wearing them without walking too much.
I have a mission. Nina and me go shopping before Trashfest!

Party party

2 March 2009

This weekend was really interesting. I ended up being somewhere totally unplanned at a party which was fun!
With friends and more friends. Amazing things!!
I can’t recall the crazyness of going there, but for those who know me: typical me!
A couple of you who were with me out there I will see at Trashfest again! Where we will rock again!

oh and for you a brain cracker that kept us thinking all night long:

Silence is sexy
Music is erotic
Metal is hardcore porn
What am I?

Tell me if you know!

What’s going on?!

21 February 2009

Now my ass is finally moved over to the hole on the map called Soesterberg (Soestmountain!!!) and my internship started (writing my final thesis) I do have some structure in life!
I have to get used to that! I am not such a person that likes to plan a lot. I am always in control anyway.
My first two weeks at AOS-studley have been great! All the people are really nice and no one is like watching over my shoulders all day.
I felt really bad that I had to call in sick for two days already in the second week. I have not been sick for years. I might have had a cold, but nothing was as bad compared to this flu.
But now I am feeling better already. This weekend I decided to take off. Normally I would have been going to some gig somewhere, but I felt that I wanted to be 100% cured before getting out. Good and wise decision since I am almost 100% now.
Also, I had now time to change this site! Right now when typing this blog, still a lot needs to be done, but I am getting to where I want it to be! I am almost a php nerd now.

Anyway… I got loads of bad news this week as well. Not all to discuss here, but well friends are fading away from me and that have always been my worst and weakest point.
For example: I heard that Miika Tenkula died. He was the lead guitarist of Sentenced. The official cause of dead is not brought to the world but I am pretty sure he died a typical Finnish dead. He was so young, only 35.
Most weird to me is that the day after I heard this I received something fromt he vintage merchandise of Sentenced which was brought to the world lately. I have been very fortunate to meet Miika many times through the years. We will miss him! I will wear my merch with pride! The Northernmost Killers will be with me forever. Without them I would not have been such a big musicfan as I am now.
Rest in peace Miika!

Also, Iw as very unlucky when I went shopping yesterday. I ended right in the middle of a Nazi demonstration where Anti Nazi’s where trying to demonstrate as well. It ended up in a fight where everyone including loads of police and ME running all around me. I sneaked into my bus right on time and luckily escaped ona ll of this right on time!

New layout

20 February 2009

I am working at the new layout for this site right now. Things needed a change…

All galleries stay online! no changes, I just need to add all the links. Takes some time, not too long. Just be patient!

PS.  It is ok… you can tell me how much it sucks if you like… you can comment here!
